Town Manager's NoteAt its regular meeting on April 8, 2025, the Woodside Town Council voted to appoint Jason Ledbetter as the new Town Manager for the Town of Woodside, effective May 15th. Ledbetter arrives in Woodside with over 25 years of team and project management experience from local government and private industry. As the City Manager for the City of Yreka, Ledbetter focused on four strategic initiatives: fire resiliency, water security, housing, and revenue generation. Prior to his time as the City Manager for Yreka, Ledbetter was the Director of General Services for the County of Siskiyou, where he oversaw solid waste, flood control, airports, bus service, the Siskiyou Power Authority, Lake Siskiyou, the Box Canyon Dam hydroelectric project, maintenance, and communications departments. Prior to public service, Ledbetter worked as a Winemaker in Napa Valley. Ledbetter is a graduate from the University of California Davis with a Bachelor of Science in the discipline of Viticulture & Enology. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of California Riverside. The Council devoted significant energy and time over the last several months to ensure they selected the best candidate to serve as the next Town Manager. In the words of Mayor Dombkowski, "When I think about the energy and engagement that is needed to be successful in this role, the experience and skillset necessary to lead on a number of the pivotal initiatives that are before us, and the leadership and vision needed to help our community manifest a new vision for the town going forward, I am very confident that Jason brings the right level of energy, experience and engagement that will serve Woodside exceptionally well in the years ahead." Jason is going to be a great addition to Woodside, and I know everyone joins me in welcoming him to Town. ~Kevin Bryant, Town Manager

Antonio De Jesús López is the New San Mateo County Poet Laureate Antonio cites his upbringing in East Palo Alto as his inspiration. “I was immersed in Spanish and Spanglish, which shaped my understanding of English as something malleable — like gum, stretching and adhering, collecting the 'lint' of other tongues,” López said. “My peers, those other brown and black voices, and the cultural richness within the Ravenswood City School District were pivotal, too. They provided the bedrock for my creative expression.”
On Tuesday, April 8, the Board of Supervisors voted to appoint López as the County’s fifth Poet Laureate, a position with the mission of “promoting awareness and heightening appreciation of poetry and the spoken word throughout San Mateo County.” The appointment coincides with the Board’s declaration of April as National Poetry Month, as well as California Arts, Culture, and Creativity Month. López is an award-winning poet and author of “Gentefication,” a collection of poems called “tender and ironic, earnest and outraged” by Gregory Pardlo, who won the 2015 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry. He is also a former councilmember and mayor of East Palo Alto who is pursuing a doctorate in Modern Thought and Literature at Stanford University. Click here to read the full article.
